Our tour will give you a unique opportunity to dive deep into the tumultuous history of Sakhalin Island and also enjoy the beautiful scenery during 60-minute drive from Korsakov to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. While on the road our knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the local history and folklore as well as describe island’s diverse flora and fauna. You will expand your knowledge upon arrival to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk while visiting the city’s largest museum – Sakhalin Regional Museum. Housed in the former Japanese building reminiscent of a pagoda, the museum hosts exhibitions about the islands natural and climatic features, as well as the history of Sakhalin and extensive ethnographic collection of the island's indigenous peoples. Next stop will be the Church of St. Nicholas – the perfect example of wooden Orthodox church looking like a gingerbread house from a fairytale, with its roof decorated with the famous onion domes and Russian Orthodox crosses. You will also visit Mountain Air ski centre and take a ride on the gondola lift up to the mountain and back to enjoy the city’s vista from above. On the way you will pass the main streets and squares of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk including Glory Square, Victory Square and Lenin Square with a stop to the gift shop PLEASE, NOTE!
