This excursion introduces the history of the construction of the Peter and Paul Fortress and tells about the importance of the fortress for the occurrence and initial construction of Saint Petersburg. The Peter and Paul Fortress is presented as a first-class military fortifications of the fisrt years of the18th century, the first architectural ensemble of St. Petersburg and the place of detention of political prisoners. The tour also includes a visit to the Peter and Paul Cathedral - a remarkable architectural monument of the Peter’s Baroque, with the tombs of Russian emperors Peter I to Nicholas II, and the prison Trubeckogo bastion - the last political prison in the fortress.
